1944 - Red Wings on a Rampage

The Detroit Red Wings set records for most goals, most consecutive goals, and most points in a game (37) by beating the New York Rangers 15-0.

1950 - NFL Goes to Two Platoons

At their annual meeting, NFL owners approved the unlimited substitition rule that had been used on a trial basis in 1949, setting the stage for two-platoon football and the game's modern specialists.

1988 - Benoit Is Perfect on Television

Bob Benoit won a $100,000 bonus by becoming the first bowler ever to win a televised tournament, the Quaker State Open, by rolling a perfect 300 game.
