Joe Malone set one of the NHL's longest-standing records by scoring 7 goals in Quebec's 10-6 win over the Toronto St. Patricks.

1983 - Riggins Run Rouses Redskins
John Riggins broke the game open with a 43-yard run and was named MVP as his Washington Redskins won Super Bowl XVII, 21-17, over the Miami Dolphins. Riggins rushed for 166 yards in 38 carries.

1994 - Jansen Breaks 36-Second Barrier
Dan Jansen of the United States became the first to skate 500 meters in less than 36 seconds, setting a world record of 35.76 at the World Sprint Championships in Calgary, Alberta.

1994 - 4 Up for Cowboys, 4 Down for Bills
The Dallas Cowboys won their fourth Super Bowl and the Buffalo Bills became four-time losers. Emmitt Smith, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns, was named MVP as Dallas won Super Bowl XXVIII, 30-13.
