Amherst beat Williams College, 73-32, in the first intercollegiate baseball game, played in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

1910 - White Sox Lose First Comiskey Game
White Sox Park opened in Chicago, but the home team was shut out, 2-0, by Barney Pelty of the St. Louis Browns. Later renamed Comiskey Park, the field remained the home of the White Sox until 1991.

1920 - Lenglen Wins Three Wimbledon Titles
France's Suzanne Lenglen won the women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles titles, becoming the first female player to win three championships at Wimbledon in the same year.

1973 - Crampton Surpasses $1 Million in Winnings
