1933 - Ruth Hits First All-Star Home Run
Fittingly, Babe Ruth hit the first home run in All-Star game history to help the American League to a 4-2 victory over the National League at Chicago's Comiskey Park.

1957 - Gibson Becomes First Black Wimbledon Champ
Althea Gibson defeated Darlene Hard, 6-3, 6-2, in the women's singles final to become the first black tennis player to win a Wimbledon title.

1975 - Match Is Ruffian's Last Race
Undefeated filly Ruffian and Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure met in a match race at Belmont Park. Ruffian took an early lead, running the first quarter mile in 22 1/5 seconds, before her leg broke. The filly had to be destroyed the following day.
