1945 - Holmes' Hitting Streak Ends at 37
Outfielder Tommy Holmes of the Boston Braves had his hitting streak stopped at 37 games, then a National League record. The mark was broken by Pete Rose in 1978.

1985 - Ryan Gets 4,000th Strikeout
Houston Astros pitcher Nolan Ryan whiffed Danny Heep of the New York Mets in the 6th inning to collect his 4,000th career strikeout. The Astros won the game, 4-3.

1987 - Bo Jackson Signs with Raiders
Bo Jackson, an outfielder-designated hitter with the Kansas City Royals, signed a five-year contract to play for the Los Angeles Raiders as a running back, becoming one of the rare two-sport professional players.
