Philadelphia Phillies' outfielder Ed Delahanty became the second player in major league history to hit four home runs in a game. He also had a single and 7 RBI in a 9-8 loss to Chicago.

Babe Ruth hit the 700th home run of his career as the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-2.

1963 - Early Wynn Collects 300th and Last Win
After many tries, Early Wynn of the Cleveland Indians finally got his 300th career victory by pitching the first five innings of a 7-4 win over the Kansas City As. It was also his last victory.

1972 - NFL Franchises Are Swapped
It was the biggest trade in NFL history. Robert Irsay bought the Los Angeles Rams from the estate of Dan Reeves for $19 million and then traded the entire franchise to Carroll Rosenbloom for the Baltimore Colts.

1986 - Tekulve Sets NL Appearance Record
Kent Tekulve of the Philadelphia Phillies made his 820th relief appearance in a 5-4, 11-inning victory over the Houston Astros. That broke the National League record formerly held by Elroy Face.
