1876 - First MLB No-Hitter Recorded
George Washington Bradley of the St. Louis Browns threw the first no-hitter in major-league history to beat Hartford, 2-0.

1952 - Dropo Collects 12th Straight Hit
Detroit first baseman Walt Dropo had a single, double, and triple in his first three at-bats against the Washington Senators, then struck out in his fourth trip, ending a streak of 12 consecutive hits. That tied the major league record set by Mike "Pinky" Higgins in 1938.

1973 - Ryan Throws Second No-Hitter of Season
Nolan Ryan pitched his second no-hitter of the season as the California Angels beat the Detroit Tigers, 6-0. It was the first time a pitcher had thrown two no-hitters in a season since Virgil Trucks of the Tigers did it in 1952.

1993 - Ripken Breaks Shortstop Homer Record
Cal Ripken Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles hit his 278th home run to break Ernie Banks' record for most homers by a shortstop. (Banks had 512 career home runs, but many of those came after he had been moved to first base.)
