1968 - Palmer Surpasses $1 Million in Earnings

Arnold Palmer tied for second place in the PGA Championship, becoming the first golfer ever to have more than $1 million in career earnings.

1985 - John Henry Retires from Track

John Henry, the 1984 Horse of the Year and all-time leading money winner with $6,597,947, was retired from the track at the age of 10. Originally purchased for $1,100, John Henry won 39 of 83 starts.
