1927 - U.S. Wins First Ryder Cup

The U. S. team beat Great Britain, 9 1/2 to 2 1/2, to win the first Ryder Cup competition at the Worcester, Massachusetts, Country Club.

1964 - Koufax Throws 3rd No-Hitter

Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers tied Bob Feller by pitching his third major league no-hitter to beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-0.

1974 - Cheap Beer Beats Cleveland

Ten-cent Beer Night at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium did in many fans and the Indians. With the score tied, 5-5, in the 9th inning, carousing fans stumbled onto the field and the game was forfeited to the Texas Rangers.

1983 - Minor-Leaguer Plays 10 Positions

Mike Ashman became the only professional baseball player to play all 10 positions in a game. He not only took the field at nine positions, he served as designated hitter for the minor league Albany-Colonie Athletics.

1987 - Moses' Winning Streak Ends at 122

Danny Harris beat Edwin Moses in the 400-meter hurdles at a Madrid meet, ending Moses' record of 122 consecutive victories in the event. The streak began on Aug. 26, 1977.
