1980 - Affirmed Passes $2 Million in Earnings
With a victory in the $500,000 Hollywood Cup, Affirmed became the first Thoroughbred to win more than $2 million.

1983 - Sutton Notches 3,000th K
Pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers, Don Sutton collected his 3,000 career strikeout in a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Alan Bannister was the victim. Sutton was the eighth major-league pitcher to reach the 3,000 level.
