Cy Young of the Boston Red Sox threw his third career no-hitter to beat the New York Highlanders, 8-0.

1962 - 1st of 4 No-Hitters for Koufax

Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Sandy Koufax no-hit the NY Mets, 5-0. It was the first of Koufax's four no-hit games.

1970 - Riverfront Opens, Braves Beat Reds

Henry Aaron and the Atlanta Braves spoiled the opening of Riverfront Stadium for Cincinnati fans. Aaron hit a home run in the first inning and the Braves never looked back in their 8-2 victory.

1978 - McCovey Joins 500-Homer Club

First baseman Willie McCovey of the San Francisco Giants hit his 500th career home run in a 10-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. McCovey was the 12th major league player to reach that level.

1995 - Murray Collects 3,000th Hit

Switch-hitter Eddie Murray of the Cleveland Indians singled in the 6th inning of a 4-1 win over Minnesota to become the 20th player in major league history to collect 3,000 hits.
