1892 - First Women's Basketball Game Played at Smith
Senda Berenson, physical education instructor at Smith College, organized the first women's basketball game, between students and faculty members.

1979 - Holt Racks Up Record Penalty Minutes
Randy Holt of the Los Angeles Kings was penalized a record nine times and 67 minutes in the first period of a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Holt was hit with one minor penalty, two majors, two 10-minute game misconducts, and three game misconducts.

1997 - Still Leads Quest to ABL Championship
Valerie Still's 14 points led the Columbus Quest to a 77-64 victory over the Richmond Rage in the fifth and deciding game of the American Basketball League's first championship series. Still was named MVP of the finals.
