1956 - Farley Commits a Foul a Minute

Syracuse National forward Dick Farley entered the dubious achievement hall of fame by fouling out of a game against the St. Louis Hawks after playing only five minutes.

1966 - Hull Scores Record 51st Goal

Bobby Hull of the Chicago Blackhawks scored his 51st goal of the season against the New York Rangers, becoming the first NHL player to collect more than 50. He went on to score three more before the season ended.

1971 - Howe Retires, for a While

Gordie Howe announced his retirement after playing a record 26 seasons in the NHL, all with the Detroit Red Wings. However, he came out of retirement two years later to play for the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association and finally retired for good when he was 52.
