1962 - Wilt Goes the Distance Again
For the 47th consecutive time, Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia Warriors played every minute of a game against the Chicago Packers. The streak, an NBA record, ended in the Warriors' next outing.

1967 - AFL and NFL Hold First Common Draft
As the first step toward their merger, which took place in 1970, the American and National Football Leagues conducted a common draft of college players. Bubba Smith, defensive lineman from Michigan State, was the first player chosen, by the Baltimore Colts.

1976 - Shoemaker Rides 7,000th Winner
Bill Shoemaker rode Royal Derby II to victory for the 7,000th first-place finish of his career. Although Shoemaker was a regular winner, it was the horse's first win in three years.
