1948 - Michigan Wins First NCAA Hockey Title
The University of Michigan beat Dartmouth, 8-4, to win the first NCAA men's hockey championship, played in Colorado Springs. Michigan's Wally Gacek was the tournament's leading scorer with 5 goals and 3 assists in two games.

1965 - Bradley Bows Out With 58 Points
Bill Bradley scored 58 points to lead Princeton to a 118-82 win over Wichita State in the consolation game at the NCAA championship tournament. It was Bradley's last collegiate game.

1973 - Clemente Elected to Baseball Hall
Eleven weeks after his death in a plane crash, Roberto Clemente was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on a special ballot. Because of the tragedy, the hall adopted a special rule that a player who died while still active was entitled to immediate consideration, rather than having to wait five years.

1992 - Drag Racer Bernstein Tops 300 MPH
Kenny Bernstein averaged 301.7 miles per hour in a qualifying run at the National Hot Rod Association's Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL. He was the first drag racer to break the 300-mph barrier.
