1934 - Triple Play Bails Babe Out
Babe Didriksen pitched a scoreless inning for the Philadelphia Athletics in an exhibition game against the Brooklyn Dodgers. She did it the hard way, hitting one batter, walking another, and then getting a triple play.

1946 - Kenny Washington Re-Integrates NFL
UCLA halfback Kenny Washington signed with the Los Angeles Rams, becoming the NFL's first black player since 1933. Washington's college roommate, Jackie Robinson, became the first black major-league baseball player a year later.

1973 - Mahovlich Is 5th to Score 500 Goals
Montreal's Frank Mahovlich scored his 500th career goal in a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. He was the fifth NHL player to reach that mark.
