1952 - TV Captures Historic Derby
The Kentucky Derby, televised nationally for the first time, turned out to be historic for other reasons. Aboard Hill Gail, Eddie Arcaro collected a record fifth win and Ben A. Jones was the winning trainer for the sixth tme, another record.

1979 - Bonds Joins Mays in 300-300 Club
Bobby Bonds of the Cleveland Indians hit his 300th career home run, becoming the second player in history to have 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases. (Willie Mays was the first.)
