1904 - Young Throws AL's First Perfect Game
Cy Young of the Boston Americans pitched the American League's first perfect game, beating the Philadelphia Athletics, 3-0.

1935 - Owens Has a Record Day
Jesse Owens of Ohio State broke four world records and tied a fifth in the Big Ten track meet. He had times of 9.4 in the 100-yard dash, 22.6 in the 220-yard hurdles, and 20.3 in the 200-yard dash, and he long jumped 26 feet, 8 1/4 inches in his only attempt. His 200-yard time was also accepted as the world record for the 200-meter.

1978 - Rose Is Youngest to Get 3,000 Hits
Pete Rose of the Cincinnat Reds singled against the Montreal Expos to collect his 3,000th major league hit. At 37, he was the youngest player ever to reach that mark.
