1912 - Tigers Stage One-Day Strike
The Detroit Tigers protested Ty Cobb's suspension by refusing to play against the Philadelphia Athletics. To avoid a forfeit, manager Hughie Jennings threw together a team of amateurs that lost, 24-2. The Tigers ended their strike after one day because of Cobb's intervention.

1929 - Frederick Scores 8 of 50 Runs
Outfielder Johnny Frederick of the Brooklyn Dodgers set a major league record by scoring 8 runs in a double-header against the Phillies. The Dodgers won the first game, 20-16, but lost the second, 8-6, as the teams also set a record for most total runs.

1956 - Mantle Switch-hits Homers for Third Time
New York Yankee centerfielder Mickey Mantle became the first major-league player to hit home runs from both sides of the plate three times.

1968 - Howard Homers in 6th Straight Game
Frank Howard of the Washington Senators homered for his sixth consecutive game, tying an American League record. It was his 10th home run in the span, a record for a six-game stretch.
