1922 - Supreme Court Hands Down Baseball Decision
Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote the Supreme Court decision that organized baseball is not subject to anti-trust legislation because it "would not be called trade or commerce in the commonly accepted uses of those words."

Houston pitcher Joe Niekro hit the only home run of his 22-year major league career. The victim was his brother, Phil, pitching for the Atlanta Braves.

1977 - Janet Guthrie Starts at Indy
Janet Guthrie, who qualified at 188 miles an hour, became the first woman to race in the Indy 500. Mechanical problems knocked her car out of the race after only 27 laps.
