1927 - Unassisted Triple Play Ends Game
First baseman Johnny Neun of the Detroit Tigers came up with an unassisted triple play to save a game against the Cleveland Indians. Trailing 1-0 in the ninth, the Indians had runners on first and second when Homer Summa hit a line drive to the right side. Neun speared the ball, stepped on first to double up one, then ran to second base to triple up the other runner and end the game.

1937 - Hubbell's 24-Game Win Streak Ends
Lefty screwballer Carl Hubbell of the New York Giants lost to the Brooklyn Dodgers, ending his 24-game winning streak that dated back to July 13, 1936.

1964 - Giants, Mets Play Marathon Doubleheader
After the San Francisco Giants beat the New York Mets, 5-3, in the first game of a doubleheader, the teams went 23 innings before the Giants completed the sweep, 8-6. The second game lasted 7 hours, 23 minutes, a National League record, and the doubleheader took 9 hours, 52 minutes of playing time, a major league record.
