1959 - Tennessee Ends LSU Streak
Trailing 14-7 in the fourth quarter against Tennessee, top-ranked Louisiana State scored a touchdown and opted for the two-point conversion attempt. It failed and the Tigers went down to their only defeat of the season after nine wins, killing hopes of a second straight national championship.

A bad back forced goalie Glenn Hall of the Chicago Blackhawks out of action, ending his NHL record streak of 502 consecutive complete games, stretching over seven seasons.

1968 - Berenson Scores 6 Goals
St. Louis Blues center Red Berenson tied the modern NHL record by scoring 6 goals in an 8-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

1991 - Magic Johnson Retires
Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers announced his retirement from basketball because he had tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The future Hall of Famer used the occasion to advise young people "that safe sex is the way to go."
