Historic Events

1966 - Top-Ranked College Teams Tie

The top-ranked college teams in the country, No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Michigan, met at East Lansing, Michigan. Michigan took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter, but Notre Dame rallied to a tie on a 28-yard field goal that opened the fourth quarter. The closest either team came to scoring after that was a missed 41-yard field goal attempt by the Irish, who ended up winning the mythical national championship.

1978 - Giants Lose on Misguided Handoff

With a 12-10 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles and only 31 seconds left in the game, all the New York Giants had to do was have quarterback Joe Pisarcik take a knee to run out the clock. Instead, they opted for a standard running. Pisarcik fumbled the ball trying to get to his fullback and blitzing defensive back Herman Edwards picked it up and ran 26 yards for the winning touchdown.
