1923 - Triple Play in Second MLB Game
In only his second major league game, shortstop Ernie Padgett of the Boston Braves came up with an unassisted triple play, the first in the National League since 1878. With Philadelphia runners on first and second, Padgett made a leaping catch of a line drive, doubled the runner off second, and tagged out the other runner between first and second.

Knuckleballer Phil Niekro of the New York Yankees collected his 300th career victory by beating Toronto, 8-0. At 46, he was the oldest player ever to throw a shutout.

1991 - Cone Whiffs 19 for Mets Fans
On Fan Appreciation Day at Shea Stadium, David Cone showed his appreciation by striking out 19 to tie the National League record. Cone and the Mets won, 7-0.
