1920 - Man O'War Runs and Wins Last Race

Man O'War won his last race easily, beating Sir Barton by seven lengths to win their match race at Kenilworth Park in Windsor, Ontario, for a $75,000 purse. The year before, Sir Barton had become the first horse to win the Triple Crown.

1927 - Strongman Has Strong Sole

During his strongman exhibition in London, Hermann Gorner of Germany lifted a plank carrying 24 men on the soles of his feet. The total weight was 4,123 pounds.

1982 - Molitor Gets Series Record 5 Hits

Milwaukee's Paul Molitor went 5-for-5, becoming the first player to get five hits in a World Series game, as the Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-0, in Game 1. Robin Yount of the Brewers went 4-for-6 in the game.

1986 - Payton Goes Over 20,000 Mark

Walter Payton rushed for 76 yards and caught a pass for 30 more in the Chicago Bears' 20-7 win over the Houston Oilers to become the first player in NFL history to accumulated more than 20,000 total yards. He retired after the 1987 season with with 21,803 all-purpose yards, 16,726 running, 4,538 receiving and 539 on kickoff returns.

1989 - Walker Brings Team in Trade

In one of the biggest trades in NFL history, the Dallas Cowboys sent running back Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings for five players, a first-round draft pick in 1992, and the possibility of six conditional picks.
