1921 - Packers Win First Game in NFL
The Green Bay Packers played their first game in the National Football League, beating the Minneapolis Marines, 7-6. The team had been organized in 1919 but didn't enter the NFL until this season.

1970 - Gabelich Sets Land Speed Record
Gary Gabelich set a world land speed record of 622.407 miles an hour in his rocket-powered Blue Flame at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The record stood until 1983.

1993 - Carter Home Run Wins Series
Joe Carter came to bat with one out and two men on in the bottom of the ninth of World Series Game 6. His Toronto Blue Jays were behind, 6-5, against the Philadelphia Phillies. If Philadelphia won, the series would be even. On a 2-2 count, Carter hit a Mitch Williams slider over the left field fence to win the game and the Series.
