1921 - Centre Ends Harvard Win Streak
Centre College quarterback Alvin "Bo" McMillin scored the game's only touchdown on a 33-yard run, ending Harvard's 25-game winning streak with one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Harvard moved to the Centre 3-yard line with less than three minutes to play, but couldn't score after a 5-yard offside penalty.

1950 - Triplett Sets Kickoff Return Record
Wally Triplett of the Detroit Lions returned three kickoffs for a total of 294 yards against the Los Angeles Rams. One of the returns went 97 yards for a touchdown. The others were 81 and 42 yards. Triplett's yardage record stood until 1994; his average of 73.5 yards per return is still the NFL record.

1960 - Football Team's Plane Crashes
A chartered plane carrying the Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo football team crashed just after taking off from Toledo, Ohio, killing 16 football players, the team manager and a booster club member. All three crew members and 30 passengers survived.
