1945 - Jackie Robinson Signs with Dodgers
The Brooklyn Dodgers signed infielder Jackie Robinson and pitcher John Wright to play for their Montreal farm team in the International League in 1946. They were the first blacks to enter Organized Baseball in the 20th century and Robinson, of course, went on to become the first black player in the major leagues.

1974 - Ali Reclaims Title in Zaire
In the first heavyweight championship fight ever staged in Africa, Muhammad Ali reclaimed the title by knocking out George Foreman in the eighth round at Kinshasa, Zaire. It was Foreman's first loss as a professional.
