History
Also known as the super bantamweight class, this was one of the junior weight divisions established in New York State when boxing was legalized under the Walker Law of 1920.
Jack "Kid" Wolfe claimed the title in 1922 and Carl Duane took it from him the following year. After Duane's retirement in 1924, though, the title vanished until it was revived by the World Boxing Council in 1976. The World Boxing Association added it in 1977, the International Boxing Federation in 1983.
The lists below includes champions recognized by the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF).
Only those bouts are included in which the championship changed hands or the championships of two or more governing bodies was unified.
