History
The junior flyweight class was established in 1920 when the Walker Law was passed to legalize and regulate boxing in New York State.
Although Jockey Joe Dillon was recognized by New York as the division champion, he never fought anyone for the title. In fact, the first junior flyweight title fight didn't take place until 1975, when both the World Boxing Association and the World Boxing Council adopted it as a championship division. The weight class was added by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) in 1983, and by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) in 1989.
The lists below include the champions recognized by those four organizations.
Only those bouts are included in which the championship changed hands or the championships of two or more governing bodies was unified.
