History
Although not formally a member of the American Professional Football Association, the Tigers played enough games against APFA teams in 1920 that they're generally included in the league standings.
After losing to the Decatur Staleys for the second time, the team disbanded.
There is a story that Chris O'Brien, owner of the Chicago Cardinals, felt there was room in Chicago for only one pro football team, so he challenged the Tigers to a game. The winner would remain and the loser would bow out.
The Cardinals won the game, 6-3, and the Tigers then disbanded, or so the story goes. There are two problems with it. First, the Tigers played two more league games after losing to the Cardinals. Second, O'Brien was willing to let the Decatur Staleys play in Chicago the following season (of course, the Staley became the Chicago Bears in 1922).
