History
British golfing sisters Harriot and Margaret Curtis donated this trophy for competition between teams of amateur women golfers representing the United States and the British Isles.
The first competition was staged in 1932 at the Wentworth Golf Club in England. There were three 36-hole foursomes on the first day and six 36-hole singles matches on the second and final day.
Since 1964, there have been three 18-hole foursome matches on the morning of each day and six 18-hole singles matches each afternoon.
Curtis Cup competition takes place in even-numbered years and alternates between the two countries.
The U. S. Golf Association selects the American team and the Ladies' Golf Union selects the British team.
