MLB Player of the Year

History

In 1936, The Sporting News began presenting an annual Player of the Year award.

It's the only major award that is given to a single player from major league baseball, rather than to a player in each league.

The award goes to the player judged by Sporting News baseball experts as having had the most outstanding season.
