Summary
Michael Jordan was back for the entire season and well-conditioned. That was good news for the Chicago Bulls, bad news for the rest of the NBA. The Bulls also added demon rebounder and defender Dennis Rodman, who had played for two championship teams in Detroit, and they still had Scottie Pippen.
The Bulls won a record 72 games, with Jordan winning another scoring title and Rodman leading the league in rebounds, while backup guard Steve Kerr was second in 3-point shooting. The Seattle Super Sonics were the best in the West. Led by guard Gary Payton and forward Shawn Kemp, they won 64 games.
Chicago lost only one game in the Eastern Conference playoffs, while Seattle had a tough seven-game battle against Utah in the Western finals.
The Bulls rattled off three quick wins in the championships, holding Seattle to 90 or fewer points in all three of the games, but the SuperSonics bounced back to take the next two. The Chicago closed it out with an 87-75 victory at home.
