NCAA Women's Bowling

Table of Contents

History

Bowling became an NCAA championship sport for women in 2004. The first tournament was hosted in April by the Emerald Bowl in Houston, with eight teams invited to participate.

The three-day tournament combined standard team bowling with Baker format competition in a preliminary round to determine seeding, then used double-elimination, head-to-head competition to determine the champion.

In the Baker format, each member of a team rolls two frames. For example, one bowler rolls Frames 1 and 6, the next Frames 2 and 7, and so on through a game.
