NCAA Men's Division II Hockey

Table of Contents

History

The first NCAA Division II men's hockey tournament was held in 1978 at American International College in Springfield, MA.

The four invited teams played a single-elimination tournament. The field was expanded to eight teams in 1982 and the first round was based on a two-game, total-goals format.

In 1984, the field was again cut back to four teams and the two-game format was both in the first round and in the championship game. The tournament was then discontinued.

It resumed in 1993, with a selection committee choosing the top two teams to play a two-game, total-goal championship series, but the tournament was discontinued again after 1999.
