History
The NCAA's first indoor track championship was held in 1965 at Detroit's Cobo Hall. That was the annual site through 1981. The meet then moved to the Pontiac Silverdome for two years, to the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University for two more years, and to Oklahoma City for three years.
From 1989 through 1999, the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis hosted the indoor championships. The meet moved to the University of Arkansas's new Randal Tyson Track Center at Fayetteville in 2000.
Although it's not formally a coeducational sport, the NCAA men's and women's indoor track meets have been held concurrently since the women's championship was established in 1982.
