NCAA Division II Women's Basketball

Table of Contents

History

When the NCAA began conducting women's championships during the 1981-82 school year, basketball tournaments were held in all three of the association's divisions.

American International College and Springfield College, both in Springfield, MA, hosted the first women's Division II basketball championship in March of 1982.

There are now 50 teams in the tournament field. Games are played on campuses of participating teams until the final four, which is hosted at a neutral site.
