NHL 1946-47 Season

Summary

Rocket Richard led the league with 45 goals to win the Hart Trophy and goalie Bill Durnan won the Vezina Trophy for the fourth straight season as the Montreal Canadiens finished first in the NHL again.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were second, 6 points back, with a young team featuring Howie Meeker, winner of the Calder Trophy. After eliminating the Detroit Red Wings in a five-game semifinal series, Toronto beat Montreal in six games to win the Stanley Cup.

Meeker set a rookie record with 5 goals in a January 8 game and Billy Taylor of Detroit Red Wings had an NHL record 7 assists on March 16.
