History

In 1982, this trophy was presented by the NHL's Board of Governors to fulfill the original purpose of the Vezina Trophy.

Named for the long-time president of the New York Rangers, the Jennings Trophy is awarded to "the goalkeeper(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it."
