History
This trophy was presented to the NHL in 1947 by Athur H. Ross, former manager-coach of the Boston Bruins, to be awarded to the league's regular season scoring leader.
If two or more players tie for the scoring lead, the trophy goes to the player with the most goals; or the player with the fewest games played; or the player who scored the first goal of the season.
Scoring leaders before the 1947-48 season are retroactively considered winners of the award.
