HistoryThe NHL's Board of Governors presented this trophy in 1978 in honor of Frank J. Selke, architect of the great Montreal Canadien teams of the 1950s. It's awarded to "the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," as selected by vote of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association. |
