Olympic Medalists: Cricket

History

Although cricket was originally supposed to be on the program for the first modern Olympics in 1896, it was dropped because only Great Britain entered a team. It actually was on the program in 1900, but only two teams competed.

The team that won the silver medal for France was actually made up of players serving at the British Embassy in Paris. The winning team, representing Great Britain, was the Devon and Somerset Wanderers Cricket Club.
