This event originated as the Pabst Tournament of Champions, held in Milwaukee in 1981.
That tournament was suspended after just one year, but it was revived in 1984 as the Sam's Town Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas.
In 1985, it was called the Ladies' Professional Bowlers Tour Tournament of Champions. It became the Sam's Town National Pro-Am in 1986 and the Sam's Town Invitational Tournament in 1989. It was discontinued after 2000.
