Game Summary
The 49ers came back twice from fourth-quarter deficits to become the first NFC team to win three Super Bowls. Immediately after San Francisco tied the score at 6-6 in the third quarter, Stanford Jennings returned the kickoff 93 yards to put Cincinnati ahead again. The 49ers got the tying touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but Jim Breech's field goal regained the lead for the Bengals with 3:20 left. Joe Montana then led his team on an 11-play, 93-yard drive culminating in the winning touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left. MVP Jerry Rice caught 11 passes for 215 yards, a record, and Montana also set a Super Bowl record with 357 passing yards.
