Game Summary
Steve Young finally escaped Joe Montana's shadow, throwing 6 touchdown passes to break Montana's Super Bowl record and guiding San Francisco's overpowering offense to 455 total yards and 28 first downs. San Diego did narrow the lead to 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, but that was as close as it got. Wide receiver Jerry Rice tied his own Super Bowl record with 3 touchdowns, and so did 49er running back Ricky Watters.
