Game Summary
After winning the first two Super Bowls, the Green Bay Packers waited 29 years before getting the chance to win a third. They made the most of it, beating New England 35-21 in a game that was exciting through three periods. When the Packers scored on their second play from scrimmage and then got a field goal after a quick interception for a 10-0 lead, it looked it as if might be another rout by the NFC. But the Patriots not only hung in, they took a 14-10 lead before the end of the first quarter. The Packers came right back with a Super Bowl record 81-yard touchdown from Brett Favre to Antonio Freeman and went ahead 27-14 before the end of the half. Again the Patriots came back, cutting the lead to 6 points, but Desmond Howard's 98-yard kickoff return on the ensuing kickoff was the back-breaker.
