History
The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum was established in 1987 to honor people and horses who have made outstanding contributions to the sport. In 1989, the hall of fame and museum formally opened in a building at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida.
The hall of fame and museum moved to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, in May of 2010. The museum is housed in a new building that's also the home of the United States Hunter-Jumper Association, while the plaques honoring hall of fame inductees are displayed in the horse park's outdoor stadium.
Electors may select no more than two people and one horse for induction annually. The induction takes place in April of the year following that in which candidates are elected.
The Show Jumping Hall of Fame, Inc., conducts the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series with some funding from the National Horse Sports Foundation. The series holds classes for amateur-owner and junior riders at horse shows across the United States.
