History
The Ted Hendricks Foundation, which provides financial assistance to a variety of local and national charities, established this award in 2002. It goes to the college football player chosen at the outstanding defensive end of the year.
The foundation and trophy are named for Ted Hendricks, a member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
