History
Friends of George O'Day donated a trophy for a national single-handed racing championship in 1962. O'Day, who won a gold medal as helmsman in the 5.5-meter class at the 1960 Olympics, was a designer, builder, and importer of small boats.
Competition is open to local clubs as well as representatives of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association and the Interscholastic Sailing Association.
